VellemanStore.com is the North American branch of Velleman, Inc, an electronics manufactured based in Belgium.  Velleman (founded in 1975) is primarily known for its manufacturing and distribution of “hobbyist” electronics, like 3d printers and DIY electronic kits.

The VellemanStore branch was established to sell retail to electronics enthusiasts in the United States, and the rest of North America.

The Challenge:

Our job was to grow Velleman’s business throughout North America through web traffic and online sales.

This stood to be particularly challenging due to their massive online catalog of electronics and components.  Needless to say, a lot of prep-work and strategy was involved before making any moves at all.

The Strategy:

Luckily, the Velleman brand is strong.  We decided to start off by leveraging this, and optimizing the website to capture as much branded search traffic as possible.

The goal here was to rank high in the search engines for broader terms, like “velleman electronics”, and more specific terms, like actual model numbers of their products (users were searching for items they made, but distribution partners aka competitors were outranking them).

To continue building VellemanStore’s web presence, we focused heavily on the following:

• Optimizing product descriptions as much as humanly possible
• Earning relevant, valuable links
• Lots of technical SEO involved (especially since the site utilizes multiple languages)
• Non-stop keyword research

The Results:

We saw increases in keyword rankings and organic search traffic nearly every month since we began.  Seeing such steady growth is a great sign things are moving in the right direction!

12 months in and search traffic was up 457%, with online sales and branded search volume growing proportionally.
